Meet Our Teachers
Carmen Colon is our bilingual piano teacher here at MSM, and currently works with the Alief ISD School district as a bilingual teacher. Ms. Colon is from San Juan, Puerto Rico and received her Bachelor's Degree in Music Education there at the University of Puerto Rico. Since her arrival in Houston, she has devoted her career to music education and teaching children at various schools in the area.
Ms. Knecht has over 16 years of teaching experience and a large roster of students at MSM. Ms. Knecht is orginally from New Orleans, LA, whose ecclectic mixture of music culture has influenced her love of all kinds of music. She also attended Centenary College of Louisiana studying vocal performance, where she had the opportunity to travel all over the world with the Centenary College choir in various concerts throughout many countries. We are happy to have Ms. Knecht with us teaching voice and piano students. Ms. Knecht is a classically-trained singer, but enjoys teaching all genres of music. She also directs the Children's Choir at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Houston, TX and sings as a choir member and soloist.
Guitar and Piano Instructor
Mrs. Cha currently teaches piano here at MSM, and her philosophy of teaching is that all children can be successful learners in music. Mrs. Cha is a certified music teacher for EC-12. She received her bachelor's degree in music at the University of Houston in Piano performance and Music Education. Ms. Cha's specialty is making music exciting and enjoyable to all children and her teaching success shows in her student's performances.
Tony Sanville has been a violin teacher at MSM for many years and has since graduated from the University of Houston in Music where he received his Bachelor's degree. His violin studies included instruction under Fredell Lack, Sophia Silivos and Albert Muenzer. He is also a founding member/director of the group Divisi Strings--a group of professional string musicians in Houston that frequently play at high-profile functions in the area.
Pianist from Ukraine, Margo Divinskaya has been successfully teaching, performing and making piano arrangements for over 27 years. She believes that music lessons are beneficial for all students, no matter how talented they are or how far they want to go in the music field.
